David Rees AM welcomes Minister to Briton Ferry.

David Rees AM for Aberavon was delighted that the Minister for Economy, Science and Transport, Edwina Hart took him up on his invitation to meet with Cllr Hugh James and members of the Brunel Dock Restoration Society to discuss the possibilities that could come from developing the docks at Briton Ferry. The area surrounding the docks has already been developed and is continuing to grow, and the opportunities that could come from developing the docks area into a marina could benefit the local area in Briton Ferry and the Swansea bay region.

David Rees AM said; “I am a strong supporter of the Brunel Dock Restoration Society and the ideas they have been working on to develop the Brunel dock at Briton Ferry. It was a pleasure to welcome the Minister to meet with local members and discuss in a constructive manner their ideas and the work they have undertaken.”

“I will be asking the Minister to undertake a feasibility study to look at the opportunities developing the site could bring to Briton Ferry and the surrounding Swansea bay area.”

Cllr Hugh James added; “We were delighted to have the Minister for Economy, Science and Transport Edwina Hart AM and David Rees, AM for Aberavon, to see the Briton Ferry Brunel Dock project where we are seeking funding to move ahead with this exciting project, and develop an historical marina site to further open up this area of Briton Ferry.”
