“Aberavon AM David Rees urges public to engage in future health plans”

David Rees AM welcomes the news that the five South Wales Health Boards have this week released their plans for delivery of three areas of specialist health care, known as the South Wales Programme. The consultation which now starts details 4 options and the Health Boards have identified their preferred option (option 3) which includes strengthening consultant led services for Accident and Emergency, Obstetrics and Paediatrics at Bridgend’s Princess of Wales Hospital.

David Rees AM said, “I am encouraging everyone in Neath Port Talbot to get involved in the consultation process which has started this week and ends in July. We need to ensure as great a response as possible is received to that consultation process. This will secure a wide range of views in order for the Health Boards to make an informed decision on the plan”.

He added, “It is important that everyone’s views, even if people accept the preferred option that has been given by the South Wales Health Boards, are recorded as part of this process. This is an open consultation and the final decision has yet to be made”.

As part of the consultation, public events will be held on the following dates and details of the process and the options identified will be shown at The Aberavon Beach Hotel, Port Talbot on June 5th 2013 and July 3rd 2013, Maesteg Town Hall on June 20th 2013 and Neath Town Hall on June 24th 2013. Each will commence at 6:30 pm.
