AM signs up to White Ribbon Pledge (Published 25.11.18)

David Rees AM has signed the White Ribbon Pledge and is urging other to do the same.

White Ribbon Pledge “I pledge never to commit, condone, or remain silent about men’s violence against women in all its forms”

The UN International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women (White Ribbon Day) is on 25th November. This is the first day of the 16 Days of Action, where our 1000-strong network of volunteers campaign against violence against women, working with communities in putting on events across the country.

Violence against women effects women of all ages, from all social classes and all races. The stark figure that more than two Women a week are killed by a current or former partner, shows just how much of a problem domestic violence is across the UK.

The Welsh Government are determined to tackle domestic violence, passing landmark legislation and supporting the all Wales Domestic Abuse and Sexual Violence help line,

David Rees AM said:

“I am joining thousands of others in making a public statement that I oppose violence against women by wearing a white ribbon and pledging never to commit, excuse or remain silent about violence against women:

We all have a responsibility to stand up and be counted, I urge others to Sign the pledge and wear a White Ribbon http://www.whiteribboncampaign.co.uk/makepledge

“The Welsh Labour Government has led the way in the UK by passing landmark legislation, but we cannot be complacent and we still have more work to do.”
