Aberavon AM welcomes innovation investment at Swansea Bay Campus

Last week the Welsh Government announced that they would be transferring land at Fabian Way to Swansea University at their Bay Campus, which is situated within Neath Port Talbot. This has been done as part of the Welsh Government’s commitment to decarbonisation and will see the creation of a centre of excellence to drive the market adoption of buildings which can generate and store their own energy.

 

Termed active buildings the concept has the potential to change the way we design and build homes and offices in Wales and the wider world. This fantastic facility will see the creation of around 50 high skilled jobs directly employed in the centre. It will also be an innovation centre and build upon the success of the SPECIFIC project.

 

  

David Rees AM said: “I am delighted to see that the Welsh Labour Government is continuing to value its decarbonisation commitments and is working with an already successful programme, SPECIFIC, to develop active buildings at Swansea Universities Bay Campus. This project will see the creation of more high skilled, high quality jobs in Aberavon, whilst innovating towards the ambitious zero carbon targets that the Welsh Government has set”
