responses to my letter’s on the proposed Prison in Baglan Moors

At last month’s public meeting on the proposed new prison in Port Talbot I informed people that I would publish copies of any responses received answering my letters and questions regarding this decision. I have now received a reply from the Minister for Prisons in Westminster which I find unsatisfactory, lacking detail and does not give the respect to local communities that they are entitled to.  Below you will find a copy of that letter and of my response to it, reminding the Minister of his failure to answer my questions and providing the people of Port Talbot with the detail on the decision to locate the prison here that we all need. This is not good enough from a Minister of the UK Government and I will continue to chase him (or his successor) on these matters until we get the answers we deserve.

I have also received a response from the South Wales Police & Crime Commissioner, which is a holding letter whilst more detail is gathered to provide the information I have asked for. This is also published below and I will seek clarification as to when I can expect that detail.

People deserve answers to these important questions and I will strive to get those answers.
