NEATH PORT TALBOT COMMUNITY GROUPS BENEFIT FROM LATEST ROUND OF NATIONAL LOTTERY FUNDING

Groups supporting elderly people to local crime prevention schemes are among those benefiting from the latest round of National Lottery funding in Port Talbot.

A total of 7 community-based projects based in Neath Port Talbot are today sharing almost £20,000 awarded under the latest round of the Big Lottery Fund’s Awards. The list below highlights those that impact upon the Aberavon constituency:

Afan Tawe Nedd Crime Prevention Panel -£1,318
Cwmafan Womens Institute -£3,179
Glan Afan Comprehensive School -£4,828

Aberavon AM, David Rees, said:

“I’m delighted that so many worthy projects in Neath Port Talbot have been able to benefit from the latest round of funding. Through these projects, this money will go on to help people fulfil their potential, feel safe and live a full life. These projects demonstrate the talent, dedication and selflessness of the people at the heart of our community. I’d like to congratulate all involved on their successful applications.”

Gareth Williams, Awards for All Funding Manager for BIG in Wales, said:

“Awards for All is having a positive impact throughout Wales. Money is helping to establish groups, societies and clubs, promoting learning, increasing volunteering opportunities and helping to build stronger communities.”

A total of 75 community-based projects across Wales are today sharing in £269,968 awarded under the latest round of the Big Lottery Fund’s Awards for All small grants programme. The application form for the programme can be downloaded from www.awardsforall.org.uk or by phone on 0845 4 10 20 30
