David Rees AM welcomes latest Jobs Growth Wales Figures

David Rees, AM for Aberavon, has welcomed the latest figures for successful Jobs Growth Wales scheme, the Welsh Government’s job creation programme for young people aged between 16 and 24. Recent figures show that since its creation in April 2012, the scheme has created 13,223 job opportunities for young people across Wales, with 5000 of these having been created during the past year.

In a recent visit to First Corporate Clothing Ltd. in Port Talbot, one of the few remaining UK corporate clothing suppliers to manufacture ladies and menswear here in the UK, with onsite warehouses to support stock storage and offering bespoke design and manufacturing services, David was able not only to see first-hand the quality of the work of this local business, but also to witness the success of the Jobs Growth Wales scheme in action, with the company having created two job opportunities including for Kirsty Darkes, pictured alongside Kirstee David, General Manager and David Rees AM.

David said: “I am extremely pleased to welcome these encouraging Jobs Growth Wales figures and to see first-hand the high-quality job opportunities the Welsh Government are creating for young people in my constituency. I was very impressed by to see the contribution made by these young people to this successful local business”
