David Rees AM visits Pen Y Cymoedd Wind Energy Project

David Rees AM today visited the Pen y Cymoedd Wind Energy Project in the Upper Afan Valley, welcoming the opportunity to see the construction of the wind farm. David met with representatives from Vattenfall and the main contractors Jones Brothers/Balfour Beatty and saw first-hand the progress being made in the construction of the bases for the wind turbines. David welcomed the chance for discussions around the development schedule and the timetable for the installation of the completed turbines, as well as the progress being made on the Community Fund Project, particularly regarding the process for submission and approval.

Mr Rees said: “I was pleased today to see good progress on the Pen Y Cymoedd site. Work is moving forward apace, and I was particularly glad to see that every effort is being made to ensure that mountain bikers and walkers continue to be able to use the trails and bike routes safely during the construction period.”

“In relation to the proposed community fund coming from the development, I encourage as many individuals and groups as possible to submit suggestions for projects before the deadline of the 31st of this month. This fund will help ensure long-term sustainability for the communities in the Upper Afan Valley and it is important that we take advantage of it to its fullest extent.”
