David Rees AM congratulates local group on Big Lottery Fund grant

David Rees, AM for Aberavon, has congratulated Skewen Old Age Pensioners Ladies Section, a local community group providing activities for older people, on winning grant funding from the Big Lottery Fund this year.

Skewen Old Age Pensioners Ladies Section will use the money to improve the activities available for over 100 members at risk of social isolation. The grant, worth, £4990, will fund accessibility travel to and from meetings, travel for day trips, refreshments, meals, entertainment and pantomime tickets.

David said: “My warmest congratulations to Skewen Old Age Pensioners Ladies Section on winning this grant funding. The money will be put to good use in the provision of activities and companionship for older people who may otherwise experience loneliness and social isolation. It is extremely important that such groups exist to improve the quality of life for our older population and I am very supportive of this initiative.”

Part of the National Lottery, every year the Big Lottery Fund distribute millions of pounds to local community groups and charitable projects around the UK and are responsible for distributing 40% of all the money raised for good causes by the National Lottery.
